I'm thinking because the PCIe x1 slot the contraption plugged into was too slow to run the faster card.Īnyway, here is the link to the service manual for your notebook.Īfter reading the removal and replacement procedure section, you should be able to decide if you want to do the job yourself. The worst part was.the 9260 didn't work any better than the 7265 did. It took me two hours with a jewelers loupe, a needle, a bright light, and small needle nose pliers to remove the broken pieces from the antenna cables so I could attach them to the 9260. Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless AC 7265 is really slow So yeah, maybe it's not really slow, but I have been reading around on the Internet some, and much of the information I found is outdated, and nothing works to boost the performance. Except for the fact that I broke both of the antenna terminals off the 7265, and they got stuck inside the antenna connectors. When the menu appears, press the F2 key. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. So, I said to myself.this should be very easy to replace the 7265 with the 9260. I want a Dual band wifi adapter, the manual shows the part as being 784644-005 (Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter (non vPRO)) but searches online for that exact part number always return with a different model Wifi adapter (Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4. Although Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 2 is not the best network card in the world, its various practical functions. I also suggest you run the UEFI diagnostic on the wireless card - Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

It should be 867 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz wifi band with an AC router, and an excellent signal strength. I was able to get my wlan more or less working but some steps were needed (in my case) From a fresh 12.1-RELEASE install 1.- I did a svnlite checkout from releng/12.1 and according to svnlite info /usr/src I got revision 359156 2.- There wasnt a iwm9260fw. I have a PCIe x1 wireless card for a desktop PC and it had the 7265 as the wifi card. If you go to the Windows control panel>Network and Internet>Network and Sharing Center, under the View your active networks section, click on the established wifi connection, and you will see the actual speed the wifi card is connecting at. It will also be a bit tricky to remove the extremely thin and delicate antenna cables from the 7265 and put them on the 9260.

If your system uses an M.2/NGFF slot, I would recommend the Intel 8265. Yes, I imagine it may be pretty hard to take the notebook apart and put it back together. If your N7110 uses a Mini-PCIe slot, the best card you can get is the Intel 7260AC, but make sure you get the HMW version, not the NGFF version.
